WINTER TO SPRING CHECKLIST
The first day of spring is March 20, 2019! We have it circled on our calendars, highlighted in our agendas, and have a five-day-out reminder set on our phones. (Can you tell we’re excited?!) Check out how we’re transitioning from winter to spring in this month’s checklist.
MODERN FARMHOUSE DECOR
There’s still lots to do on the renovation side of things, but Lindsay did check off a fun re-decorating project in her home this past weekend. Check out how she transformed her open hutch in the dining area for the third (yes, third) time.
A new month means a new checklist! From purging with our minis to giving our home a little TLC, find out what we're up to this month!
BROCCOLI CHEDDAR EGG MUFFINS
We are always on the hunt for meal ideas that our toddlers will love as much as we do and this recipe is a total win in our homes! Egg muffins are easy to make and healthy too! They are also versatile so you can make a different kind every week!
This month's checklist is all about de-cluttering, getting organized and planning ahead. Check out what we'll be up to this month!
THE MOST AMAZING EGGNOG RECIPE
It wouldn't be Christmas without eggnog. We make this recipe every year - often multiple times, and it is always a hit! Why not mix things up and bring eggnog to your next holiday potluck. Or, whip up this recipe on Christmas Day for an indulgent treat you and your family are sure to enjoy.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS CHECKLIST
We can't believe we're a month out from Christmas! Because of our hectic schedules, we like to try to plan ahead as much as possible, and in our opinion, every good plan starts with a checklist. Today we're sharing our full week-by-week checklist leading up to the big day!
IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS
We love seasonal decor. It keeps our homes from feeling dated and every changing season gives us the perfect excuse to shop for fresh finds. We're especially obsessed with all things Christmas and are pumped to share Lindsay's dining room decor for Christmas 2018. Check out the before and after pics.
JACQUELINE'S MORNING ROUTINE
I work outside the home and mornings are precious to me. I love that little bit of time I have to spend with my son before I leave for work. Like most people, I really don’t like feeling rushed in the mornings. It sets the wrong tone for the day.
We can’t believe it’s November already. This month we’re determined to get ahead of the game and do a little planning, a little goal-setting and most definitely a little shopping. Check out what tops our to-do list for November.
If you’ve checked out our Insta stories in the past, you’ll know we’ve got a serious love for pancakes. Jacqueline whips up a stack almost every weekend for her family. And Lindsay conveniently pops in for a friendly visit almost every weekend. (Family is so important, after all!) This past weekend we decided to make a Saturday tradition a little more special by hosting a pancake brunch.
TIPS FOR TEETHING
Teething. We’ve all been through it, but to actually think about the whole process of cutting teeth still makes us cringe. This week we’re sharing signs and symptoms of teethers and listing what has worked best for us when providing sweet (and icy cold) relief to our little ones.
Last weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada and besides eating copious amounts of turkey and pie (ssooo much pie), we also took a moment to think about this past year and everything there is to be thankful for.
A new month means a new checklist! Here’s what’s topping our to-do list in October.
JACQUELINE'S NIGHTTIME ROUTINE
Like most people, I hate feeling rushed in the morning. The more I can get accomplished at night, the calmer my mornings can be and the more time I can spend with my little one before I’m out the door to work. So once my baby goes to sleep, my evenings consist of power cleaning and prepping for the next day.
We can’t believe it’s September already! While we’ll miss the dog days of summer, we’re pretty pumped for changing leaves, crisp mornings and pumpkin spice everythang! Check out what we’ll be getting up to this month with our September checklist!
PIZZA PARTY IN THE PARK
We were so excited when we discovered our little city offers a beautiful wood-fired community oven surrounded by a bountiful garden and orchard. With our picnic blankets packed, we caramelized our shallots, shredded our mozzarella, sliced our mushrooms, seasoned our sauce, rolled our dough and headed to the Park Avenue Community Oven (PACO) for a pizza party al fresco. (When we say we, we mean Jacqueline’s husband Craig Flinn, but you better believe we were there for moral support and official taste testing!)
QUICK AND EASY SNACKS FOR LITTLE ONES
Three meals a day is no longer sufficient for our growing babes and we now include two snacks (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) into our daily routine. Check out a few of our go-tos for snack time.
PEACH, PROSCUITTO AND CHICKEN FLATBREAD
Fun fact: peaches are at their peak in July and August and we’re loving all of the sweet and savoury dishes we can make with this juicy stone fruit. We’ve never met a flatbread we didn’t like and we’re so excited to share one of our favourite recipes that features the OH-SO delicious peach! It’s super easy to make and packs a serious flavour punch
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TOT'S FIRST STEPS
And the milestone moments just keep on coming! We can’t believe we’re already sharing tips to prepare your home and your toddler for those first steps. That’s right! We’ve got little cruisers on our hands and we are in full-on proofing mode. Check out what has worked for us in this new and exciting phase with our little ones.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY
I can’t believe my beautiful baby girl is already one year old. To mark the occasion, we invited family and friends to Georgia’s first ice cream social. It was the perfect theme for a hot summer’s day and we had a blast turning our home into the cutest little ice cream parlour. Check out the details for this sweet celebration!
FIRST BIRTHDAY 101
Fun fact: our babies were born just four weeks apart from one another. That means July has become a pretty special month for our family and we’ve been busy planning fun and festive first birthdays for our little ones. With one birthday down and one more to go (insert “I can’t believe my baby is growing up so quickly” sobs here), we thought we’d share a few tips that helped us during the planning process.
PUMPING AT WORK
Going back to work after maternity leave can be a challenge. Not just practically, but emotionally. For the past year, I spent almost every waking minute with my little one and I loved it. As maternity leave started winding down I began having some anxiety about pumping at work. I work in a traditional office setting and I had concerns about how conducive it would be to my pumping regime.
A CARNIVAL THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY
My little boy recently turned a year old and to celebrate this momentous occasion, we turned Lindsay’s backyard into a carnival fit for a (little) king! My inspiration was Jillian Harris’ birthday party for her adorable son Leo. I read and re-read her blog post showcasing fun décor, yummy treats and smiling faces. I knew I had to do something similar for my own baby boy.
After an amazing long weekend full of patriotic love and first birthday festivities, we’re looking ahead to the next few weeks and have compiled our checklist for July.
ETON MESS RECIPE
Fresh, local strawberries are a must this time of year! We love strawberries in all forms. From shortcakes to salads, cobblers and cakes, you really can't go wrong with this superfood. But our favourite way to enjoy these beautiful little morsels might just be as part of a glorious Eton Mess.
SUMMER FUN UNDER ONE
After the snow, sleet and rain, we are bursting with excitement to see the sun shining! Check out a few summer activities that are absolutely perfect for children one or younger.
FATHER'S DAY INSPIRATION
Three cheers for the amazing men in our lives! Father’s Day is this weekend and we’ve got some fun things planned to celebrate their special day. In need of a bit of Inspiration? We’ve got you covered.
DIY: FLOATING SHELVES
Floating shelves add visual interest to any space and are perfect for displaying knick-knacks, books, flowers or any other random décor that needs a home. If you're looking for a chic way to update a tired or bland space, check out this DIY for floating shelves.
Hello sunshine! To usher in a new month, we’re sharing our June checklist. Check out how we plan to prep, primp and play this month.
OUR TRIP TO THE PRESIDENT'S CHOICE GARDEN CENTRE
How many thrillers, fillers and spillers does it take to craft the perfect planter? We put this horticultural humdinger to the test when we were invited by east coast media and President’s Choice to attend a gardening workshop at our local Atlantic Superstore.
This past weekend we celebrated our first Mother’s Day. To mark the occasion, our family gathered at Lindsay’s house for an oh-so-scrumptious high tea!
A MOTHER'S DAY Q&A
There ain’t no hood like motherhood! As we approach our very first Mother’s Day and almost a year with our little ones, we’re feeling über nostalgic about all of the special moments we’ve experienced in such a short amount of time. We recently had a chat about motherhood and thought we’d share some of our thoughts with you!
CRAIG FLINN'S GUACAMOLE RECIPE
We love guacamole. It's one of those foods that, when done right, just never gets old. It will come as no surprise, that Chef Craig Flinn, of Chives Canadian Bistro, 2 Doors Down, and 2 Doors Down Bar and Bites, makes the best guacamole.
