Happy Holidays Checklist

We can't believe we're a month out from Christmas! This year feels even more special because we'll be experiencing every moment through the eyes of our little ones (who were just a few months old last Christmas!). Because of our hectic schedules, we like to try to plan ahead as much as possible, and in our opinion, every good plan starts with a checklist. This week we visited CTV Morning Live to talk about "hassle-free holidays." While we mentioned a few tips during our segment, today we're sharing our full week-by-week checklist leading up to the big day!

Week One

• 0rder Christmas cards (if you haven’t already!)
• Update address list
• Stock up on nibbles for unexpected guests (cheese, nuts, charcuterie, chocolate, cookies)
• Prepare a few meals you can freeze and pull out when needed
• Hang any outdoor lights and décor
• Purchase or make your advent calendar

Week Two

• Decorate the inside of your home
• Make your gift list
• Purchase gifts for loved ones, co-workers, children’s teachers, host(ess) gifts (get a few extra smaller gifts for any unexpected recipients!)
• Check gift wrapping supplies and stock up on what’s needed
• Send Christmas cards
• Make sure everyone is on the same page for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day itinerary
• Buy or assemble your Christmas tree and decorate

Week Three

• Give your home a good deep clean
• Prepare the guest room. We also like to add little guest baskets to make our visitors feel more at home. Things like a toothbrush and toothpaste, hand towels, mints, an eye mask and hand lotion. You can also add a bit of local flavour with some of your favourite homegrown goodies!
• Tackle any Christmas baking

 
Week Four

• Plan all Christmas meals
• Determine when each dish will be made (things like dinner rolls and cranberry sauce can be made in advance)
• Make a grocery list
• Buy as many ingredients as you can in advance
• Decide on any special occassion outfits for you and your children. Make sure everything fits from head to toe!
• ENJOY THE SEASON!
